Our Story

A vision, driven by a passion for business by three brothers from Germany. K&K Foodliner began as the Lauterdale Food Market in 1956. Success led to expansion with the rental and then purchase of Arndt’s Food Market by 1959. In 1962, with the immigration of the third brother, a partnership was formed, the Whyte Avenue location (current) was built and it was agreed the three stores would be called K&K Foodliner.

What began as a grocery and produce store, has evolved over the years. It was in the early 1960’s that Albert Krause put his sausage making knowledge & skills to fine use, introducing made in-house product to an already flourishing business. Shelf product gradually shifted to import grocery from the homeland’s, and by the early 2000’s shelves no longer carried North American conveniences.

Today, K&K is still owned and operated by Krause family members and we can proudly say we have been serving the greater Edmonton area for over 60 years! We are known for our vast selection of made in-house sausage, cold cuts and import groceries. Our care and quality had us Voted TOP MEAT SHOP Edmonton 4 years consecutively 2016-19 (Top Choice Award)!

A visit to the shop is a very social experience for many regular patrons. Whether it’s the products or over hearing one of numerous languages frequently spoken, a first time customer will always leave with a cultural experience...many reminded of their childhood.
